Transfer registration as buyer

About this service

 This service should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

You can transfer registration online if you've bought or received a used vehicle, trailer or boat with a Queensland registration.

You cannot use this service if:

  • you don't have a Queensland driver licence or customer reference number (CRN)
  • you're transferring the registration out of your name
  • the seller has not transferred the registration out of their name
  • the registration has personalised plates or customised number plates attached
  • the registration is currently in the name of an organisation with an Australian Company Number (ACN)
  • you're transferring the registration to more than 1 person or to an organisation
  • you want to apply a concession to the registration (does not apply to trailers)
  • you want the registration to have a purpose of use other than private or commercial
  • you intend to claim a duty exemption for a vehicle (other than a family gift).
