Motorcycle knowledge test

About this service

This service allows learner motorcycle riders to take the motorcycle knowledge test. You must pass the test to get the RE learner class added to your driver licence.  

You can take the test if you:

  • have completed the Q-Ride pre-learner course (or been granted an exemption)
  • hold a current valid provisional, probationary or open Queensland car licence that is not disqualified, cancelled or suspended
  • have held a car or heavy vehicle licence for at least 1 year in the past 5 years.

You can’t take the test if you:

  • have not completed the Q-Ride pre-learner course or been granted an exemption
  • have been granted an exemption from the Q-Ride pre-learner course and have held your RE learner licence for less than 12 months
  • do not hold a current provisional, probationary or open car licence
  • hold a disqualified, cancelled, suspended or expired car licence
  • have not held a car licence for at least 1 year in the past 5 years
  • already hold a motorcycle licence
  • are a returning driver—you must take the test in person
  • have already attempted the test today
  • have already passed the test within the last 5 years.

Overseas motorcycle licence holders

About the test

The test consists of 30 questions about road rules and motorcycle riding. You can take the test once per day and you don’t have to pay the test fee until you pass.

After you pass, you can pay the $28.70 fee through this service or at any transport and motoring service centre that offers licensing services.
