Enrol in hazard perception test

About this service

Enrolling should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

You can use this service to enrol in the Queensland car or motorcycle hazard perception test. The test checks if you can notice dangerous situations on the road and respond safely. It should take 15 to 30 minutes to complete the test.

You must pass the hazard perception test before booking a practical driving test (for cars) or Q-Ride restricted (RE) course or Q-SAFE riding test (for motorcycles).

If your licence is expired, you must renew your licence before enrolling in the hazard perception test.

If you were issued a P1 licence before 29 March 2021, you need to pass the hazard perception test before you can progress to a P2 or open licence. You must have held a current P1 licence for at least 1 year in total since it was issued.

You cannot use this service if:

  • you have not held a car (C) class learner licence for at least 6 months, for the car test
  • you do not hold a Queensland RE learner licence, for the motorcycle test
  • your licence is expired, suspended, disqualified, or cancelled
  • you do not have an email address and an internet connection to take the test
  • you have an interstate or overseas licence and have not recorded it with us.

If you cannot enrol online, you'll need to visit us in person (see Enrol in the car hazard perception test or Enrol in the motorcycle hazard perception test).
