What you should know

Booking slot availability

Programmed vehicle inspections are managed by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR). The NHVR releases booking slots up to 6 months in advance.

If there are no booking slots available in your area or if you need help booking a vehicle inspection, please message us or call 13 23 80.

When to book an inspection

Demand for inspection booking slots is very high in some locations. To avoid delays in obtaining your certificate of inspection (COI), please book your inspection as soon as you receive your renewal notice, or sooner if your local area isn't serviced often by the NHVR.

You can check your COI expiry date and set reminders by using the free QLD Rego Check app. Download the QLD Rego Check app using the App Store or Google Play.

Extensions of time

If the COI expires before the inspection date, it is the registered operator's responsibility to arrange an extension of time to operate the vehicle. Transport and Main Roads can only issue an extension within 2 months of the COI expiring, unless inspections are affected by a natural disaster or other exceptional circumstances. To arrange an extension of time, please message us or call 13 23 80.

 Changes to inspection locations
